Lapis Lazuli is a beautiful celestial stone that consists of deep blue lazurite, sparkly pyrite, cloudy white calcite, and a few other minerals. The name of this stone comes from the Latin word Lapis means stone and the Persian word Lazhward meaning blue. It sits around 5 -5.5 on the Mohs hardness scale.

One of the oldest opaque gemstones in history, Lapis Lazuli was revered by the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Minoans, Chinese, Greeks, and even the Romans.
