Thulite, also known as Rosaline (Pink Zoisite) is part of the Epidote mineral group and has a Mohs hardness of 6.5. Discovered in Telemark, Norway in 1820 by H.J. Brooke, this vibrant stone was named after the ancient mythological island “Thule”, which many believe was located north of continental Europe, and said to be current day Scandinavia. It is also the Norwegian national stone.Since its initial discovery Thulite veins can also be found in the United States, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Japan, and Australia.
