Citrine is the prized golden member of the Quartz family. It occurs naturally, most notably in Congo and Zambia, Africa, and also in Brazil. Sometimes it can form in with Smokey quartz, and Amethyst (Ametrine). 

Due to it being the most valuable member of the quartz family, sometimes cheap and poor grade amethyst is heat treated to create a deep orange-gold colour. This material is widely available on the market, and is also sold under the name Citrine.

At Nature’s Magick, we endeavour to predominantly stock natural Citrine, however at times gemstones set in jewellery may have had heat applied to enhance a Citrine’s colour to be a darker golden colour. When we purchase Citrine marked as natural, we will call it “natural”.
