Metaphysical properties of Jade: Good luck, success, love, peace, harmony, wisdom, protection, travel, dreams

When speaking of "Jade", there are two varieties - Nephrite, which is more common and Jadeite, which is more valuable. Interestingly, Nephrite and Jadeite were considered the same gem until French mineralogist, Alexis Damour, discovered  the chemical difference between the two in 1863.

Whilst both gemstones are (usually) usually green, there are key differences on a chemical level which also command a vastly different value.

Jadeite is one of the oldest and most sought after gemstones in the world, being prized by numerous cultures around the world for its spiritual properties and use within each culture. While nephrite jade is also popular, it does not garner the same level of commercial value.

Jadeite not only forms in a variety of shades of green, but also other colours including yellow, orange, black, lavender. Like diamonds, Jadeite forms exclusively in metamorphic rocks exposed to the intense pressures deep below the Earth's surface. Buried beneath all this heat and pressure, Jadeite only comes to the surface in regions where there's erosion or shifting of tectonic plates.

Jadeite is most widely known to come from Myanmar/Burma, however it also exists in many places around the globe, including Kazakhstan, Japan, Guatemala, California, Russia.

Unfortunately due to its high commercial value, Jadeite sourced from Myanmar is riddled with ethical issues from the mining conditions, to the industry being riddled with corruption and crime. We do NOT stock Burmese Jade.

The only Jadeite we source is from Guatemala, where it is collected by locals in rivers and is easily obtained in a non-harmful way. Exporting Jadeite from Guatemala supports local villages and craftsmen and women. We are proud to supply only ethical and genuine Jadeite to our customers!

We also stock Nephrite Jade which is a more common and less valuable form of jade that is also formed in metamorphic rocks, but undergoes much less pressure and stress than Jadeite. This also means Nephrite is softer and also more abundant in its deposits as it forms closer to the Earth's surface. New Zealand and Canada are quite well known as sources of Nephrite Jade, which can be found worldwide.

The spiritual and metaphysical properties of Jade are based on thousands of years of cultural history. Some common beliefs around the properties of Jade include it being the "Stone of Heaven" - the Chinese believe it to be the bridge between the Heavenly and Earthly realms, a stone of Good Luck, promoting good Health (particularly helpful for supporting healing of the kidneys) and that it also helps one to predict the future.

If you want to bring more love and balance into your heart and your life, Jade might be the answer. It is known to have powerful, outward-flowing energies that promote healing, nurturing, replenishment, and emotional support that can help you tap into a higher love.
