Rhodonite is a manganese metasilicate mineral with a hardness of 5.5 to 6 on the Moh's scale. The name "Rhodonite" comes from the Greek word for Rose-Red, which describes its deep pink tones, especially in crystalline form. The black inclusions are Manganese Oxide.

Rhodonite is one of my go-to stones for helping to soothe emotional wounds, panic, shock or fear. The absorbing qualities of the black help to transmute these feelings, and ground them, whilst the pink Rhodonite's deeply nurturing energy has a powerful effect on the heart chakra, opening one up to self-love, compassion and forgiveness. 

Another aspect of Rhodonite, is its ability to help us to open up to our inner gifts and talents, and learning how we can work with those gifts to be of service in our community. The altruistic nature of Rhodonite opens the heart to experience the feelings of fulfilment of one's unique life purpose by being of service to others.
