Aquamarine is the blue variety of Beryl, sister stone to Emerald, Morganite and Heliodor. Aquamarine is considered a precious gemstone with a hardness of 7.5 to 8 and can range in quality and value, depending on its colour clarity and brilliance. It is the birthstone of Pisces and March.
Aquamarine’s name comes from the Latin meaning “Water of the Sea”. In folklore, Aquamarine was believed to be the treasure of Mermaids, and was worn or carried by sailors for courage/fearlessness, protection and good fortune.
