Lapis Lazuli Jewellery & Crystals

Each piece in this Lapis Lazuli collection has been personally hand-selected for its aesthetic beauty and craftsmanship, chosen for stones that hold a presence as much as a form.

As natural minerals, variations in blue tone, calcite veining, and golden pyrite inclusions are part of their story — many pieces are truly one of a kind.

Take a moment to explore the collection slowly and trust the piece that draws your attention. Often the stone meant for you is the one that quietly calls you first.

Because Lapis Lazuli is most commonly sourced from Afghanistan, we believe in being transparent about origin. Within this collection you will also find a small selection of Chilean Lapis Lazuli for those seeking a conflict-free option.

About Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is one of the most recognised blue stones in the world, prized for its deep celestial colour and the natural flecks of golden pyrite that often appear across its surface. Rather than being a single mineral, Lapis Lazuli is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of lazurite, alongside calcite, pyrite, and other trace minerals. Its rich ultramarine blue colour comes from lazurite, while the metallic specks often visible within the stone are naturally occurring pyrite. Lapis Lazuli typically measures 5–5.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it suitable for jewellery when treated with care.

The name Lapis Lazuli comes from a combination of Latin and Persian originslapis meaning “stone” and lazhward meaning “blue”. For thousands of years, this striking stone has been valued across cultures for both adornment and symbolism.

Lapis Lazuli holds a remarkable place in human history. It was treasured by ancient Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, Roman, Chinese, and Minoan civilisations, appearing in jewellery, carvings, and ceremonial objects. The stone was famously used in the burial mask of King Tutankhamun, ground into cosmetic pigment in ancient Egypt, and later crushed into the prized blue pigment ultramarine, used by Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo in works including the Sistine Chapel. Its vivid colour and rarity made it a material associated with prestige, artistry, and cultural significance throughout history.

Today, most high-quality Lapis Lazuli used in jewellery originates from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, where the stone has been mined for over 6,000 years. However, Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan is widely recognised as a conflict mineral, due to the political complexities surrounding mining in the region.

At Nature’s Magick, we believe transparency in sourcing is important. Because much of the jewellery industry still relies on Afghan Lapis Lazuli, some pieces within this collection are made using material from this region through our jewellery suppliers. However, we intentionally keep this selection limited.

For customers who prefer an alternative option, we also offer Lapis Lazuli sourced from Chile, which is considered a conflict-free supply. Chilean Lapis Lazuli often displays slightly lighter blue tones and more visible calcite veining compared to Afghan material, giving it its own natural character and mineral signature.

Across this collection you will find a variety of Lapis Lazuli jewellery and crystal pieces, each displaying the natural mineral variations that make this stone unique — from deep blue surfaces scattered with pyrite to lighter tones threaded with calcite.

Many people are drawn to Lapis Lazuli during seasons that call for clarity, thoughtful communication, and deeper self-reflection. Traditionally associated with wisdom and insight, the stone has long been linked to the pursuit of knowledge and the expression of truth. Within modern crystal practice, Lapis Lazuli is often chosen by those exploring intellectual growth, authentic self-expression, and alignment between inner knowing and outward voice.
