This point runs deep indigo through violet-blue, dense with a grey-white mottled texture along its full length rather than sitting in a single band. A fine natural fracture line crosses the stone horizontally, and near the tip one facet opens into a small zone of blackish-green, a quiet contrast against the cooler tones around it.
Sunstone's shimmer is aventurescence, caused by tiny copper or hematite platelets inside the stone catching light as it turns. Iolite is known for pleochroism, its colour shifting between deep blue-violet and a softer, smokier tone depending on the angle you view it from. This piece carries both characteristics, with iolite's depth dominating its overall colour.
As a point, it suits a spot where it can be seen and returned to: a shelf, a desk, a bedside table, somewhere a small daily glance feels natural.
Iolite has a long history as a navigational stone, historically used by Viking sailors to help locate the sun through overcast skies, and in crystal tradition it's associated with intuition and inner clarity.
