This is a shorter, more compact point than some of the others in the collection, and what it lacks in height it makes up for in colour movement. Deep indigo-blue sits at the tip, with a small fleck of green visible within it, before giving way to a dense band of silver-white speckling through the midsection, and settling into a softer smoky grey at the base.
The silver speckling is aventurescence, sunstone's characteristic shimmer, while the indigo tones at the tip and the smoky grey base both belong to iolite, known for pleochroism, its depth and tone shifting depending on the light and angle.
Its smaller scale makes it easy to hold, which suits anyone who wants a piece for a pocket, a desk, or simply somewhere within easy reach rather than a larger display piece.
Sunstone carries a long association with vitality, warmth and confidence, while iolite has a more introspective history, historically used by Viking sailors as a natural aid for locating the sun through overcast skies, and linked in crystal tradition to intuition and inner clarity. This piece carries a fairly even mix of both characters, from the concentrated sparkle through its centre to the deeper, quieter tone at the tip and base.
The green fleck near the tip and the density of the silver speckling through the centre are both specific to this stone. This is the exact piece pictured and the crystal you will receive.
