White Sage & Abalone Shell Mini Smudge Kit
A compact ritual set pairing a small natural red abalone shell with a bag of Californian White Sage.
The petite abalone shell provides a natural vessel for holding the dried herb and catching ash during smoke-cleansing rituals. Its small size makes this set easy to incorporate into a personal altar or ritual space without requiring a larger shell or burner.
Each natural abalone shell has its own distinctive colouring, markings and iridescence, so no two kits will look exactly alike.

White Sage (Salvia apiana) has particular cultural and spiritual significance for several Indigenous peoples of Southern California and surrounding regions, with a long history of ceremonial use.
Rather than viewing White Sage simply as a way to “remove negative energy,” it can be approached as a plant associated with purification, prayer and the intentional creation of sacred space. In contemporary spiritual practice, it is often used when preparing a space for ritual, meditation or reflection.
Different spiritual traditions understand smoke cleansing in different ways. If White Sage forms part of your personal practice, we encourage working with it intentionally, respectfully and with awareness of its cultural significance.
Place a small amount of White Sage into the shell and carefully light the herb. Allow it to catch briefly before extinguishing the flame and allowing the leaves to gently smoulder.
Use the smoke as part of your cleansing, meditation or ritual practice. When finished, ensure all embers are completely extinguished and cool before disposal.
Abalone shells are natural shells and should not be assumed to be heatproof. Use only a small amount of herb at a time and place the shell on a stable, heat-resistant surface. An insulating trivet or tile underneath is recommended.
Burn herbs in a well-ventilated area with good airflow. Keep burning or smouldering herbs away from flammable materials, children and pets, and never leave them unattended.
Allow the shell, ash and remaining herbs to cool completely before handling or cleaning.
